Many social networking sites allow you to directly embed a Flash application (SWF) file onto your profile or blog including Facebook, but the process for Facebook is a bit different.

The only way to add your application to Facebook is on a “Page,” i.e. Fan Page, or Business Page.  These are Public profile pages because no privacy settings can be defined and are open to everyone.

There are basically 5 steps for you to embed your application (SWF files) into your Facebook business or fan pages:

  1. CREATE A FAN / BUSINESS PAGE
  2. ADD IFRAME TO FAN PAGE
  3. EDIT IFRAME APP
  4. ADD CODE
  5. CHANGING THE ICON AND NAME OF THE IFRAME APP

Seems too simple, yet kind of “ummm, what the…”? No worries!

The following detailed steps will walk you through step-by-step to help you easily get your application working on Facebook:

STEP 1: CREATE A FAN / BUSINESS PAGE

The first step of this process is to create a page:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php

STEP 2: ADD IFRAME TO FAN PAGE

After you have created the page, click on the ‘search bar’ and type “iFrame”. Facebook recommends using iFrames for using HTML and SWF Files.

Click IFRAME Apps and add it to your page you’ve just created.

STEP 3: EDIT IFRAME APP

Once this is done go back to your page and click the “iFrame Tab” button.  Found Here:

Once you click on it, you will be brought to the admin panel for the app and you will see:

From the admin panel, press the CONFIGURE APP.

Now on the configure app page, you have to select your page you’d like to use and upload the code.

STEP 4: ADD CODE

Here is the basic embed code for our tv2beta application with a few variables added:

And for the Influxis Player, go to the Influxis player and acquire the embedded text from there since there will be specifications set up for you.

Embed Code For InfluxisPlayer:

STEP 5: CHANGING THE ICON AND NAME OF THE IFRAME APP

Now that the tab has been completed, go back to your page to edit the image of the button for IFRAME.

And then you will see,

Click the little pencil to change and click edit settings and you’ll be able to change the name and image.

Check out our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Influxis?ref=hl and click on the Influxis TV Station to see this process in action!

We hope that this helps all you Facebookers and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask support@influxis.com.

THank you but this didn’t work. Flash doesn’t start and it just show the HTML code.

Sorry but I don’t think it is. The Facebook cover image is only for image files (jpg, png, etc)

Not sure why Facebook is using https:// for me now, but I get this from the iframe:

[blocked] The page at ‘https://facebook.iframe-apps.com/iframe/tab.php’ was loaded over HTTPS, but ran insecure content from ‘http://infxapps.influxis.com/apps/rh1nhlp8btqvgp1iqloh/tv2beta/tvstation_viewer_v2.swf’: this content should also be loaded over HTTPS.
