Online banner ads? They are everywhere. And they are mostly pretty boring. Even the animated or embedded video ads are no longer special.

So Bud Light set out to change that by launching a real-time interactive video streaming banner ad!

The Bud Light banner ad – that was prominently displayed on the homepage of ESPN.com during NFL’s Monday Night Football broadcast – had an embedded video player that live streamed. In addition, the banner ad had real-time interactive buttons on the sides.

With this setup, an online user watched the live pre-game talk show and voted for the night’s favorite team, all within the banner ad environment. Then the magic happened. Depending on the votes aggregated, the gantry system at the show’s studio activated remotely in real-time.

For this live streaming and web-connected robotics challenge, Influxis custom-configured a private streaming network that provided low latency for live video and robotic data streaming.
