The Nutcracker 5000, the brainchild of premier ad agency CP+B, allowed online viewers to control and fire a snowball cannon at its “lucky” employees via the Internet as an in-agency holiday celebration event. CP+B invited its clients to participate in this unique web-robotics game. Real ice was packed into the cannon, and the employees were pelted by real “snowballs”. Whenever an online viewer made a hit, the agency made a donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. In the end, $15,000 was raised for the charity.

For this fun and charitable project, Influxis provided seamless, low latency live streaming via a dedicated Adobe Media Server hosting plan , and CP+B also utilized a customized and branded version of the InfluxisPlayer app specific to the event for the thousands of viewers. In addition, Influxis provided dedicated customer support to assist in the development and deployment of the web application user interface which allowed about 100 lucky viewers to fire the snowball cannon.
