To promote Dance Central 3, the latest offering of the popular Microsoft Kinect-based game, Roundhouse launched an interactive marketing campaign where the game fans recorded and uploaded their dancing videos in real-time to compete with one another through online viewer voting. The online campaign also had some star power, having the world renowned artist Usher as its spokesperson.
For the project, we provided a dedicated Adobe Flash Media Server with a custom encoding system that encoded the uploaded UGC (User-Generated Content) videos into the FLV format and automatically trimmed them into easy-to-view 30-second clip. We also provided web application development consulting, and Roundhouse used a customized version of our Simple Video Recorder application to facilitate the webcam recording. Due to the campaign being translated and localized for the US, UK, France and India, our CDN was specially configured and optimized for smooth video submissions from these different parts of the world.
